Armenia’s historic religious sites have long been a focus of visiting tourists, with hundreds of magnificent churches and historic monasteries dotting the picturesque landscape. But following the opening of the COAF SMART Center in 2018, Armenian tour operators have begun adding the Center to their itineraries, bringing tourists from around the world to one of the country’s newest marvels.
Armenia has been gaining recognition for its cutting-edge technology, art, and music centers. In recent years, there have been nationwide advancements in the arts and technology sectors, which has included COAF renovations. The COAF SMART Center, which opened its doors earlier this year in the Lori region, exemplifies this advancement and serves as a resource for Armenian children and community members to learn new skills and and work cohesively with regard to common causes and ideas.
The COAF SMART Center, a 20,000 square foot building perched on a picturesque 50 acre campus, is a hub for learning and information sharing – and a resource for all. The Center exists as a regional epicenter for art, music, dance, computer science and technology, science, and language learning, utilizing non-formal and modern educational practices. This interdisciplinary approach to learning creates a platform for residents of the Lori region to work cohesively with regard to common issues and shared ideas.
The COAF SMART Center initiative seeks to empower rural communities through investing in critical-thinking and professional development for community youth. By increasing access to information, COAF enhances the learning experience for village youth and reduces educational inequalities nation-wide. COAF also emphasizes training and professional advancement for local teaches, healthcare professionals, and social workers through COAF sponsored trainings and investment in available facilities and resources.
Since the COAF SMART Center opened in May of 2018, there have been a variety of classes, seminars, workshops, and retreats offered to community members, all lead by a wide network of professionals from various backgrounds. In addition to serving as an educational hub for the community, the Center also serves as an event space and a platform for hosting community guests and presenters. Several events have been hosted in the newly renovated auditorium in partnership with other organizations, including the opening ceremony of HassFest 2018 – the international interdisciplinary art, music, and science festival.
COAF welcomes you to visit the Center, and to experience the facility firsthand. COAF SMART Center’s doors are always open to all who want to witness firsthand one of Armenia’s most progressive educational institutions at the forefront in the advancement of rural Armenian communities.
