Infrastructure development

COAF’s infrastructure development projects aim to create an environment conducive to economic progress and improved living conditions. These projects include renovation of educational institutions, health care facilities, community centers, etc.; reconstruction of water networks; and establishment of sustainable waste management systems.

One of the most important projects within infrastructure development programs is the renovation of educational institutions. Renovated and furnished schools with drinking water, indoor bathrooms and heating systems help increase preschool and school enrollment and provide children with a healthy and safe environment for learning and development. Improved conditions in educational institutions also increase accessibility to extracurricular activities, such as sports and cultural events.

Reconstruction of water networks includes establishment of public water service systems or improvement of existing ones where damages and inadequacies exist. The goal of this project is to provide sustained access to potable and irrigation water. In addition to securing access to affordable water, COAF works with local municipalities and water users’ associations to establish sustainable management of water networks. Availability of potable water in households and public facilities will significantly improve the quality of living conditions for cluster communities. In addition, functioning irrigation water networks will increase efficiency and productivity of the agricultural sector.

Communities in the cluster suffer from unsanitary conditions resulting from the absence of waste management systems. COAF organizes the collection and disposal of accumulated waste and then establishes sustainable waste management systems throughout the cluster villages. The aim of this project is to create a safe and sanitary environment, eliminating exposure to diseases resulting from unsanitary conditions, as well as increasing environmental awareness among the rural population.
