In 2004, COAF founded a dental clinic in an effort to help meet the basic dental needs of the distressed children and families under the care of Orran (haven), a nongovernmental organization established in 2000.
More than 14,000 children do not attend school in Armenia because their families are unable to meet the basic costs of their education. As a result, many of these children are living on the streets and begging. Some turn to prostitution, and many suffer from daily malnutrition and exposure to the elements.
Orran serves as a safety net for the most vulnerable population. Its mission is to help children of economically deprived and socially vulnerable families. Orran also works to assist orphans and the elderly by providing after-school programs, psychological counseling, food, clothing, educational enrichment programs, and medical care.
