In 2002, COAF provided a grant to the State Musical Theatre of Armenia to modernize the studio’s facilities, updating the equipment and creating more favorable conditions for the productive operations of the theatre and improved environment for the gifted youth.
The State Musical Theatre of Armenia, founded in 1988 by Arthur Grigorian, singer and composer, has launched the career of many of today’s Armenian pop stars. At present it is home for hundreds of talented children and adolescents, aged six and up, who are accepted to the theatre’s studio and taught the background of the national Armenian music, as well as international and modern pop music. Under the artistic direction and supervision of the founder and executive director, famous Armenian singers and alumni of the State Musical Theatre of Armenia currently teach at the theatre and pass their valuable knowledge to younger generations.
